Yup, at this point my grades over all are Shootout hockey 7.5 out of 10, Hockey Blast a strong 6 even 6.5. Hockey Bones aka Face off Hockey is a very strong 9, but has a well worth learning curve. Hockey Bones has it all including a fairly accurate penalty ratings system.

I just looked at the Shootout Hockey page, and it looks WAY too detailed for my tastes.  I'm more of a casual hockey fan--although that may change if Houston ever gets an NHL team.

When I played Strat, I played the basic game with only a few of the advanced rules added in.

Hockey Blast Express is much more my speed, and it definitely seems to be accurate enough for what I'm looking for in a hockey game.

But thanks anyway for the suggestion.

Actually, it is not detailed at all, much simpler and more fun than Strat hockey. FAC's do all the work. IMHO perfect for the casual fan, where Hockey Bones would not be. No line changes speeds up everything

I will take a look at the YouTube video(s) for Shootout Hockey to see if my first impression (from looking at the cards) holds up.  I'm willing to look at a video or two to see if I was mistaken.

I looked at a couple of YouTube videos of Shootout Hockey, and confirmed that it is NOT the game for me.  No offense to you or Frank, but I found it to be much less simple and not nearly as much fun as Strat or Hockey Blast Express.

I left my impressions on your forum, as you suggested.

I'm sticking with Hockey Blast Express.  Thanks anyway for the suggestion.

Wow.  Just wow.  My poor 1975 Aeros were never in this one against the 1975 Vancouver Blazers in Hockey Blast Express.

Aeros fell behind 3-0 early, then got a goal later in the first period, only to have the Blazers score again and it was 4-1 Vancouver after one.

Second period, Vancouver upped the lead to 6-1 (including a power play goal following a penalty on Gordie Howe), and then the Aeros cut it to 6-2 by the second intermission.

Not much scoring in the third period.  Aeros got another goal late in the game, but it really didn't matter at that point.

Vancouver Blazers win this one 6-3.  Aeros will try again in Game 2 of this best-of-three exhibition series.

YOU CANT GO WRONG WITH EXPRESS , I PLAAY THAT AND SHOOTOUT ...............IF YOU ENJOY AND LIKE THE RESULTS ..YOU ALREADY WON !!!!

I remember you not caring for Second Season Express. And, there's nothing wrong with that as we all have our preferences. I own both SSX and HBX and love both. I'm curious as to what makes the Hockey Blast Express more enjoyable to you?
